Trying a Schedule…

The constant battle between time management, reality and sheer laziness.

Blog Post, Ep. 2!

Oh, wow, I actually managed to get two in a row!

Well, y’all, it’s time for a confession. One time I actually ate an entire jar of peanut butter all by myself. Now, it’s time for another confession - I suck ass at time management.

So, I just finished up a recent Viewer Comic Review submission over on my YouTube channel yesterday. It was called Regeneration Girl and I quite enjoyed it - I believe I mentioned this in last week’s post, but here’s the link to check it out for yourself.

Anyway, I received the request to review this comic in January. It is almost October. Now, I can make excuse and say “oh, I had other projects,” but the truth is I have just been lazy. I am not great at managing my time and I get easily distracted. I mean, I was diagnosed with ADHD (or ADD back then - I’m old enough for people to update old conditions) as a child, but that’s no excuse. I have the ability to really focus in on and concentrate at one thing at a time, the issue is I wanna do a ton of things. Like this blog that just came into existence on a whim.

So, I came up with a great idea while taking a shit. That is when I come up with 98% of my ideas. I swear the porcelain bowl is a sacred place and those who defile it with the presence of smartphones are foolish. Imagine the sheer number of ideas you could be coming up with in there, but you’d rather distort your imagination with bland stimulation. For shame, brother, for shame.

Alright, enough rambling like a lunatic. So, I took a minute and I tried to whip together a schedule. Now, I’m not gonna share the majority of this schedule, because it’ll be held to public scrutiny and whenever I say, “Oh, I’ll get it by X date,” I never do. So, rather than embarrass myself, let me just say, I wanna make more stuff, videos, comics, art, etc. But juggling various projects is difficult, especially when you work a full-time job and especially when that full-time job is physical labor. But, nevertheless, I think if I just really focus in and apply myself, I can at least follow this till the new year and see how it goes. Of course, I’m giving myself a minor buffer, starting the schedule the first full week of October, so I can get a little bit of stuff prepped and scheduled.

I don’t know if this will work out for me, but if it does, you can look forward to three shorts on YouTube a week, a full length video bi-weekly, Doomsayer chapters bi-monthly (I believe Chapter 23 will be completed by Christmas, so going forward, Feb., Apr., Jun., etc.), the upcoming Broken Windows quarterly, due to me wanting to do it in color - first chapter will probably be available around the same time Doomsayer Ch. 23 comes out - that trashy harem manga idea I mentioned last week possibly monthly (still need to work out the kinks… or I guess work in the kinks, haha), and a new shitpost comic weekly. So, those are the main scheduled goals. There are a few other things I’ve got lined up for scheduling, but they’re not that important. As long as I stick to those deadlines for the videos and the comics, I think I can gain a relative consistency and just focus in on making stuff.

Discipline is a very important thing for an artist. One can not be a craftsman, if he does not dedicate his time to said craft. Or some bullshit like that, I dunno.

I always end up slacking off and underachieving. It’s been a problem my whole life, but I think just burying myself in work will help me out. If I always have a project that needs to be completed, there just isn’t any time to be lazy, right?

Anyway, bit of a shorter blog today, because I got stuff to do. But I hope I’m able to pull this off. If not, well, then damn, back to months between y’all hear from me, but let’s hope that’s not the case. Anyway, take care and thank you for reading my ramblings. Have a wonderful day. <3

So, I
