Three for Three, let’s gooo!
So, I thought it’s time to get crackin’ on the “Gigachad” betas. Ha, chad beta. Get it? No? Well, shit, guess my career in comedy is over.
Anyway, yes, Here are some initial sketches for two of the characters. Not the main character, Chad, because this is a trashy harem manga and no one gives a shit about the main dude. I already have a finalized designed for him, anyway, based on old sketches I saw in some of my old sketchbooks, so there’s no need to sketch him up. You might also notice the original logo. “Gigachad and the GHOST Girl Harem,” despite me changing this to “Grimm Girls,” which I think will be the final title. Initially the premise was that they were ghosts, but I thought that wouldn’t be creative enough to stand out in this genre. So, I suppose I should provide a proper synopsis for this project. An elevator pitch, if you will.
Chad is a Monster Hunter in the Ruins of Civilization. After the Great Cataclysm, the earth has been invaded by all types of hostile creatures. Years and years after the fact, there is a new organization dedicated to exterminating all monsters. Chad’s got it all. Good looks, big checks, nice cars, fancy house. The one thing he doesn’t have is a good woman. That’s because he’s locked in on that sigma grindset or whatever the kids say these days. However, that’s all upended when these girls straight out of fairy tales (quite literally) start orbiting around him. Laughs, tears and shame if you read this in public await. Ecchi harem trash for the connosieur of the absurd.
Something like that. I’ll make it snappier when I finally get to scripting. But I suppose you want to know what fairy tales I’m drawing from for each girl and what kind of application they’d have to this world? Well, as you can read in the notes of the character sketches up top, I want to try to adapt their myth to their character arc. So, Rei Punzel (Rapunzel), famously stuck in that tower, has to overcome her agoraphobia. Lily Redd (L.R. Riding Hood), whose grandmother was eaten by wolves in the canon, needs to overcome her grief. That’s sort of the basis of each girls character arc. And, of course, Chad is the conduit to help them through it.
Granted, this all just an excuse to draw tasteless, degenerate panty shots, of course. Oh - now that I mention that, there is one more quirk that’ll make it stand out. All the girls are late 20s, early 30s. We are Milf Men here, through and through. My biggest gripe with this genre (well, granted, at least the stuff that comes out of Japan) is how young the cast is. It’s really easy to make the characters adults, y’know. And also, I just like older women. Well, I guess women my own age as I’m rapidly approaching gray hair and permanent wrinkles.
Anyway, back on track as for proposed girls. There’s the step-sisters Anzu and Greta (Hansel and Gretel) who get lost all the time. They might just be gag side characters. I’m not sure where to go from there. Hermosa Duermo (rough Spanish for “Sleeping Beauty”) who suffers from narcolepsy and needs to adjust to life with her disability. And, of course, Sydney Raya (Cinderella), who’s on a revenge mission to kill her adoptive family that tortured her. You guys should know by now I’m a sucker for a revenge story, so I gotta squeeze one in. It’s a cliche trope, but dammit, it’s my favorite.
So, insofar as “Gigachad and the Grimm Girl Harem” is concerned, or maybe just “Grimm Girls,” that’s where we’re at. Should probably finalize the title. Oh, and since I want to release this monthly, each chapter is probably gonna be like 10 pages. Gotta try to find the right balance of things. Especially since I got three other comics cooking in the oven. I hope you guys get a chuckle out of Thoughts & Prayers, which just started yesterday. They’re not all gonna be one panel, but they are all gonna be 1 page. Weekly schedule and perfectionism, y’know? (Although my art looks pretty bad. I’m trying.)
YouTube videos should be starting up this week with my shorts and I’m not sure if it was this Saturday or next Saturday that regular vids are starting biweekly. I just kind of need to keep myself busy in this crazy world. It’s the only way to stay sane.
