Post-Launch of Thoughts & Prayers

10/12/2026

Welcome to the new era of shitposting mania!! … or, uh, something like that, I guess.

The first one was a rather niche joke, regardless of the title, but I know some people, at least, got a chuckle out of it.

ONE MONTH BLOG-IVERSARY!

A new comic is up and running! too bad it’s shit! (non-derogatory)

Alright, we’ve gone four weeks in a row! That’s crazy consistent for my lazy ass!

Anyway, we’re post-launch for my new series Thoughts & Prayers. And with that title, of course it’s sardonic dark comedy with the occasional bit of surreal humor. I actually had the idea of this comic way back before Doomsayer even started! Well, kind of. I just always thought that one day I wanted to make a gag strip. I mean, I used to draw them when I was a kid. Thought it might be fun to expand my horizons and try a new genre which is what the majority of the projects I got cooking are about. Obviously, Broken Windows as I’ve stated before is a crime thriller, but that’s actually a recycled concept for a novel - y’know, the dreaded “word books” - I reworked into comic form. I’m aiming for a Thanksgiving release for that as I’m at the “all but the art” part of Chapter 1 of that. And, we’re inching closer and closer to a more defined outline for Grimm Girls, which is gonna be the official title for that ecchi harem trash I told you about last week. It’s a guilty pleasure, y’know?

But, that’s not what we’re talking about today! Today is all about Thoughts & Prayers! The shitpost comic to end all shitpost comics. Or something like that. So, the initial concept, of course, was a weekly gag strip or one panel comedy comic and lemme tell you… comedy is really fucking hard! There’s always the self-doubt of “will this land? Will the audience get the joke? Is this in poor taste? Does this joke have enough bite to make people laugh or are they just gonna blow some air out of their nose?” I’ve always thought that comedy was the hardest genre to write. Because when you look at other genres, the intentions of the audience’s reactions are easier to achieve. Mystery? Get the reader theorizing. Action? Get the reader hyped up for the next fight scene. Horror? Get the reader creeped out by the disturbing events or spooky monsters. Gooner-slop? Get the reader aroused. Comedy? Well, not every person has the same sense of humor.

For example, one of my favorite stand-up comedians is Anthony Jeselnik. (Coincidentally, I think one of his specials was actually called “Thoughts & Prayers.”) His gimmick is extremely dark comedy. The only comedian who I think has received more gasps than laughs. But I just kind of respect him for that. The whole premise of “You’re not supposed to joke about those things,” but he does it anyway. Because I think you should be able to joke about everything. I mean, of course, I am in favor of freedom of speech as a “proud ‘murican,” but I also think that eliminating the taboo between dark subjects and comedy can provide some fresh perspectives on the genre and push it forward. Or maybe I’m just a fucking sicko, I dunno.

Anyway, a bit of a quicker blog this week. I got a lot going on. I actually have to report to Jury Duty tomorrow, so, uh, yeah - big sad. But have you guys been enjoying Thoughts & Prayers so far? I’ve been enjoying making it and I think next week’s episode when we finally meet some recurring characters might be a more accurate representation of my humor with a more absurdist, yet dark, approach. As for other projects, there’s a comic I agreed to review in the coming weeks, which kind of cut the line in Viewer Comics, but they asked me to review it before their physical book release very professionally and cordially, so that’s the next “long-form” video. A bunch of shorts in the works. Doomsayer Chapter 23 is in progress, hopefully out by Christmas. Broken Windows will likely come out around Thanksgiving. Thoughts & Prayers is the only one on a fixed schedule of every Saturday at 4 PM EST, at least on my site. And Grimm Girls is still in development, but I’d like to put that out monthly, possibly starting in January. I’ve also got a few ideas for one-shots, but that’s the issue with being an indie comic creator, you got too many ideas and not enough time, money or resources to dedicate to them all. But, it’s not impossible that a one-shot could come out from me next year.

Well, thanks for reading my insane ramblings. Hope it made your Monday suck at least 1% less! Have a wonderful day, friends. <3
